We have lived this close to the Grand Canyon our whole lives and this was our first time going to see it. It was awesome. We were there right after it rained and the clouds were very cool over
the canyon. Sometime soon we will have to visit the South Rim.

No not me...yet. Al turned the big 40 on May 16..we had a birthday bash at Fiesta Guadalajara's. It was really fun and I had a great time teasing Alan about being "over the hill"...he says he can't wait for my turn, paybacks are great! I love you babe...HaPpY 40th!

Women's Conference 2009

Women's Conference was so wonderful this year. The classes were awesome and the presenters
did a great job. Sister Beck was one of the speakers at a general session, she is an amazing woman, I love listening to her and her counsel she gives to the women of the church. I learned so much this year and felt the Spirit so strong I am grateful for the chance to go and spend time with some wonderful women that I love....Thanks ladies for an awesome couple of days :)

Saturday afternoon we had our anual Easter Egg hunt at Grandma Gloria's.
The weather was cold and rainy so we had the hunt inside. Grandma and Grandpa hid lots of treats and surprises throughout the house and then on the word GO the chaos began....
We finished the evening cooking a hamburger (in the rain) on the barbacue and enjoying some good food and being with family...It was fun !!

Thanks Grandma Gloria...We had a good time.

Grandma Mary

Early Tuesday morning March 10 I lost someone very special to me. My Grandma Mary passed away. I had the awesome opportunity to be by her side the last couple of days of her life. I love her so much and am so grateful for the example she was to me my whole life. She was an amazing woman and I will miss her greatly. The day of her funeral was absolutely gorgeous, lots of bright sunshine just liked she loved. After her funeral Grandpa took us all to Maddox, it was a great way to be together and enjoy each others company...Thanks grandpa I love you.

Becoming a Missionary and entering the MTC

Tuesday night we went over to the Stake Center and the Stake Presidency set Skyler apart as a Missionary, it was an awesome experience and very emotional. We had a lot of family and a few close friends there and it made it special. Wednesday we had to be in Provo at the MTC at 11:30. Skyler went out to breakfast with his Dad and brothers and then we all headed down to Provo. It was quite an experience.

Having a gReAt tImE.

It has been a week full of craziness. It started last Sunday with Skyler's mission farewell. Sacrament meeting was awesome, Skyler did a great job on his talk and had me in tears right when he started talking. I am so proud of him he will be an awesome missionary in Tahiti. After Sacrament meeting we came back to the house...all 60+ friends and family, it was great. Everyone pitched in and brought egg casseroles, fruit, homemade cinnamon and orange sweet rolls, muffins and breads, and milks and orange juice, Thanks everyone for helping me I could not have done it alone.

OK, so I was sitting in Sacrament meeting this morning singing the opening Hymn when it hit me..Two weeks from today is Skyler's missionary farewell, that means 17 days and we take him to the MTC, can I just say I am soooo not ready to have him be gone for two years. As the flood of emotion came over me I watched the cute little kids sitting on the bench in front of us and reflected back to when my kids where that small. I remember the folder games, the picture books, the crayons and the coloring books, trucks making their way over the top of my hair and face and all the cheerios..I miss those days mainly because I still had plenty of years ahead with my kids. I have so many emotions that surface every time I think about Skyler being a missionary, I know he is doing what the Lord wants him to do and he is so ready to get out there and teach the people of Tahiti, but the selfish MOM in me wants my baby close to me always, I know we will be blessed to have him serve in the mission field and I know he will be blessed for serving also. Sorry for the rambling on it has been an emotional day and I don't see it getting any easier in the coming weeks :(

Trip to Dallas

Kylee's cousin Kate lives in Dallas, Texas. She misses her so much. This past November Grandma Becky wanted to take a trip to Dallas with Kylee and spend the weekend with Kate. They shopped, swam, got new American Girl dolls (which by the way they love), went out to eat and just had FUN together. Matt, Becca and Adam came also and they had a great time. Thanks Grandma for taking Kylee on this fun weekend, we love you.

A Very Special Valentines

This was the BEST Valentines ever! As most of you know Skyler is 24 days away from entering the MTC. Yesterday we had the privelage of being with him as he went thru the Bountiful Temple. All I can say is WOW!! What an awesome experience it was to be with him. I have some pictures to post, I will try and post them tomorrow.

Called To Serve

I have dreamed about this day for a long time...it finally came on December 19,2008. Skyler received his mission call. We had family and friends gather at our house that night. I had a map of the world on the wall and each person got to put their guess in for where they thought Skyler would be called to. It was so fun to see all of his friends and family take a guess at where they thought he would go, Skyler himself guessed Omaha, Nebraska because he had a dream that was where he was going, boy was he a long way off. When he opened the call, he laughed and danced around, he was soooo excited. As he read the call he announced he would be serving in the Papeete, Tahiti mission, entering the MTC on March 11 2009, his 19th birthday. I am so proud to be Skyler's mom and excited for him to have this opportunity to serve the Lord and grow. We Love You Skyler!!

Odds and Ends...

I am going to add a quick review of 2008 to our blog highlighting some of the exciting things that happened last year. I will start with Zach receicving his Eagle Scout. He worked extra hard to get it done before he turned 16, since he knew that was a prerequisite to driving. Even though he got plenty of "reminders" from his Dad and I, he did a great job at working hard and getting this awesome award..We are proud of you Zach!!

The Dreaded Science Fair

I have never been a fan of doing science projects. When Skyler and Zach had to do them in 5th grade we would procrastinate and start the project a day or two before they were due...
Not the case with Kylee this year. She has been planning her science project since the day the assignment was given. Calling Aunts and friends to find out what kind of diapers they use on their babies and gathering those diapers. Well as it turns out it pays to prepare and start your project before the day it is due. Kylee took 2nd place in the 5th grade science fair. I am so proud of her she did a great job!!
